Strauss Metamorphoses
Lieder (Das Rosenband, Ständchen, Freundliche Vision, Wiegenlied, Allerseelen, Zueignung)
Tchaïkovski Symphony No. 3 Op. 29

Of the two hundred lieder composed by Richard Strauss, some thirty were written with orchestral accompaniment. The six opuses presented here by soprano Diana Damrau are among the most beautiful, if it is even possible to establish a hierarchy among this unique production. Diana Damrau, who has made the composer's vocal oeuvre her own for some years now, both on stage and on record, knows this repertoire like no one else, and with her operatic voice, she transforms these six works into sublime, timeless miniatures. They explore all the expressive possibilities, the infinite variety of moods and colours, which make them the natural extension of the Schubertian lied and the premises of the great German post-romantic opera. In addition to these little jewels for the voice, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, conducted by Jérémie Rhorer, will mirror the Metamorphoses, also by Strauss, with its unfathomable but so bewitching mystery, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 3.
