This is the Norwegian National Ballet’s third visit, as part of the TranscenDanses season. It kicked off the series in September 2014 with an evening devoted entirely to the Czech choreographer Jiří Kylián, a cornerstone of the company, whose former principal dancer Ingrid Lorentzen has been at the helm since 2012. She has encouraged the company to develop iconic collaborations with several major names on the modern dance scene including William Forsythe, Alexander Ekman, Lima Scarlett, and Crystal Pite. She made a return visit to the Théâtre in the spring of 2017 with an impressive Swan Lake, a flagship work by Ekman. For this third visit, they are performing a new work by Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite. The creator of Body and Soul for the Opéra de Paris and Animation, performed here in 2017, excels at reappraising the legacies of William Forsythe, Jirí Kylián and Mats Ek with flair.
