Handel's great arias are among the greatest "hits" of the lyric repertoire and the reasons for this are easy to understand: On the one hand, the frightening virtuosity of "Furibondo spira il vento" (Partenope) or, even more so, "A dispetto d'un volta ingrato" (Tamerlano); on the other hand, the sublime melodic lines of "Cara Sposa" (Rinaldo) or "Torna sol per un momento" (Tolomeo). But we still need performers who are equal to these marvels... There is no doubt that Jakub Józef Orliński is a worthy successor to the legendary castrati of the 18th century. And it's an understatement to say that the sharp strings of the Pomo d'Oro literally propel their soloist to stratospheric heights!
