Martin Fröst knows Mozart like the back of his hand. Concerto K. 622, of course, played hundreds of times, but also the "Kegelstatt Trio", where the Swede knows how to erase the diabolical dimension of his virtuosity to better render the bucolic tenderness of a work written for the friendly circle. In order to prolong the clarinetist's reunion with his friend Antoine Tamestit, Shai Wosner, who will play with them, has taken the liberty of arranging Fauré's Opus 120 for the Frenchman's bow. And since clarinet and viola go so well together – all orchestration treatises can attest to this – they will then explore the meanders of Brahms' Trio Opus 114, originally written for the cello. All indications are that the masterpiece's autumnal melancholy will not suffer. Quite the opposite in fact.
