She was nurtured from an early age by music (a father who was a pianist and a mother who studied singing) and is considered one of the most brilliant performers of her generation. While the New York Times has praised her "magnificently varied palette", she will certainly have the opportunity to demonstrate it at this concert. After the Four Romantic Pieces from Czech composer Dvorak's Opus 75, the elegiac sonata by his compatriot Janacek, composed during the First World War, takes its place. An epic and highly sentimental interlude, Brahms' Sonata No. 3 will open the second part of the concert before the brilliant and all too rare Szymanowski, whose Nocturne and Tarantella offer two completely different visions of her art, the first of which is in the Romantic tradition, while the second shows a technique of high virtuosity and a heady and sumptuous speed of execution.
