Brahms Symphony No. 1 Op. 68
Beethoven Triple Concerto Op. 56 for piano, violin and cello
Atelier Jeune Public Raconte-moi une histoire
The original Trio Wanderer was formed in 1987 and is one of the most sought-after chamber groups in the world, garnering awards and accolades while preserving its independence. For this concert, the Trio is escaping the world of chamber music and joining the orchestral repertoire for the legendary Triple Concerto by Beethoven – a work which they recorded in 2001 with conductor James Conlon and which seems tailor-made for them. They are therefore reconnecting with this old friend under the baton of young Lithuanian conductor Giedrė Šlekytė on this occasion. Already in demand, with invitations from a number of orchestras, she was only born in 1989 – two years after Trio Wanderer was formed! This is a fine example of continuity across generations around a timeless work.
