Sponsoring
Note
The difference between sponsorship and patronage
Sponsorship is material support given to a structure, organisation, show or project with the aim of promoting a company's image and which is part of a commercial approach. The sponsoring company may use this amount as advertising expenses, up to the limit of its contribution.
Patronage, on the other hand, is a philanthropic approach involving support (financial, skills or in kind) for a non-profit organisation in the general interest. While patronage entitles the donor to a tax reduction, sponsorship entitles the donor to deduct expenses. Sponsorship expenditure can be deducted from a company's taxable income in the cases set out in article 39-1 7° of the French General Tax Code.
