Chopin

- Entracte -
Nocturne op. 48 n° 2, Sonate op. 58 n° 3
Since winning First Prize in the prestigious Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw at the age of twenty in 2005, Polish pianist Rafał Blechacz has been pursuing an exemplary career. He is progressing with rigour, dedication and perfectionism which command respect. He has even taken a year off to complete a PhD in the philosophy of music. Onstage, this performer demonstrates total mastery of clarity: crisp articulation, peerless attack and subtly varied dynamics. He ticks all the boxes and demonstrates an extraordinary grasp of refinement which does not compromise the true poetry of his sound. This will all be on display tonight in this programme devoted to Chopin, of course.
