About

Who would have thought that Mozart's Violin Sonata No. 21 would one day be played on the mandolin? Certainly not Amadeus himself, overwhelmed by the death of his mother when he composed it in Paris in 1778. However, as the superstar of an instrument that he has been promoting in the classical sphere for more than ten years, Avi Avital is not shying away from anything. Especially not J.S. Bach. The very idea of a transposition of the Partita BWV. 1004 would make people smile if the Israeli had not shown the record the subtlety and musical intelligence he is capable of in this work, particularly famous for its final chaconne. A blend of popular tradition and scholarly music, Falla and Lavry will add a touch of folklore(s) to this programme with sounds far from mainstream music.
